Avatar baby

Just when the left check was healing...he did it again. This time is was carrying his farm truck while walking and kicking a rolly toy. He lost his footing and fell face first into our space heater, as you can see by the huge knot between the eyes. We have been calling him Avatar as he looks like a character from that or Babalon 5???

Not sure what was worse...the fall or holding his arms down to "ice" his head. You can see here that Jorgito would rather eat the icepack than use it on the bump.

Bruises and more bruises

It seems like as soon as one is all but disappeared....he gets another! (Left Cheek)

Here we are this morning having a relaxing breakfast. Usually once or twice a week I work in the afternoon and don't go into the office until after 1pm so we get to lounge around in our pjs all morning and read books, watch baby signing times and play with toys. I can't wait till the weather warms up so we can hit the mopac trail with Grandpa Larry again for our morning walks!

Play Date :)

While Jorge and Isabella's daddy Ryan were out and about running and biking in Omaha we decided we would tag along and have a ladies and babies morning. We started at Le Peep for breakfast with Lisa and Andrea (more triathlete wives) then we headed back to Isabella's house so the babies could show off their newly developing skills :)
Jorgito and I with Isabella (5 months old) and her mommy Amelis.
Jorgito can't take his eyes off her!!!!

Notice Jorgito watching mommy Amelis as he attemps to touch Isabella's toy gym and inch his way closer to his friend. Also pictured: Andrea :)

When Jorge and Ryan returned from their workout Amelis and I left the little ones in the care of their fathers and headed straight to Babies R Us for some much needed time away while we shopped for and talked about....what else....our babies :) :) :)

Face Maker

Jorgito is a man of many faces...this just happens to be our favorite. It's his "go to" thing for attention around here. He usually can't hold it for more than a couple seconds and then breaks out in laughter. He's wonderful!!!!

Mr. Smiley

This week was pretty uneventful...which is a good thing sometimes :) Jorgito was working on mastering his walking skills. He really likes to go back and forth between couches in the living room (about 6 feet apart) We were watching a movie on Friday night and he decided that he needed a longer distance so he took off towards the kitchen and made it about 20 feet before kneeling down like OMG what did I just do. He then proceeded to turn and wait for our applause.

First Toothbrush

Now that Jorge's tooth (singular) is getting bigger it's time to start some good dental hygiene habits. So now whenever Jorge brushes his teeth, his shadow follows him in the bathroom and gets to brush his tooth (without toothpaste)

Snow Shine

Jorge was busy doing a 50 mile bike ride on his computrainer in his basement homemade heat chamber this morning, so Jorgito and I went up to my parents to take a couple photos of their snow piles while the sun was shinning and bright.

Notice the pile of snow is OVER their heads!

My Little Measles Man

Saaaaaaaaay What? I have what?

OMG...Roseola a.k.a. baby measles....Noooooooo

You can't really see the dots but they are everywhere.

Finally the mystery of the symptomless 3 day fever. Roseola also known as Baby Measles. Basically it's a virus that starts with a fever and once it breaks it causes a non-itchy rash of pin sized dots all over his body.

New Years Day Tradition

I only make Empandas (Chilean Runzas) twice a year, Jorge's birthday and New Years Day. Traditions are important now more than ever with little Jorgito around so instead of lounging around on the couch letting my body finish digesting of all that New Years Eve food, I was in the kitchen making more.
While I was working away in the kitchen, these two bums were watching the Ironman Hawaii 18 hour marathon on the Universal Sports channel.

Here they are, the finished product: Chilean Empandas

Jorgito would like to get his mitts on that empanda, too bad he only has one tooth. Only pureed fruits, veggies and yogurt at this time.

Unfortunately Jorgito had a fever yesterday and it stayed around today reaching 103.7 this afternoon, but baby Tylenol has kept it to the low 100s. He has no symptoms of a cold or flu he is just lethargic and snuggley :( Poor little guy!!!

New Years Eve 2009

.
I saw a program on PBS about New Years Eve traditions and it stated that you need to eat good quality food and lots of it on New Years Eve to ensure the new year will be plentiful. It also said that if you wanted new experiences in the new year you needed to prepare new food.
.
We celebrated at our house with our friends Abby and Kevin.

The Boys fired up the grill

The girls in the kitchen

Course 1: Shrimp Scampi and salad with palm hearts

Course 2: Steak, potato bake and broccoli

Course 3: CRAB LEGS!!!! :) This was the "new" as I have never made these.

Abby and Kevin (no Kevin don't pretend to pick your nose with the claw)

My 2 Jorges and I (no Jorge don't pretend to use the crab leg as a cigarette) What is wrong with BOYS????

Dessert: Creme Brulee

After all this food we crashed on the couches and watched Dick Clark's "Rocking" New Years Eve on T.V.....we pretended that we lived in the eastern time zone and celebrated the new year at 11pm (NE time) along with 1 million New Yorkers. And we were sleeping at the real new years :)
.
My New Years Resolution: Lose weight, exercise, be healthy BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!
.
When I asked Jorge if he had a resolution he said: I don't smoke, I don't drink, I eat healthy and I'm waking up early tomorrow morning to bike 50 miles and run 10 what more do you want from me??? Apparently he thinks that I am the resolution police?
.
Jorgito's resolution: Stop biting mom while nursing!!!!
